Wow! 2014 heralded in our first Crowdrise campaign and it was a lot of fun! Together we raised $43,465 – with donations still rolling in – to present programs, underwrite entry fees, award scholarships and connect with our alumni. From alum Lena Dunham’s tweet on Giving Tuesday to support the Awards to the Director of the Andy Warhol Museum, Eric Shiner, sharing the experience of alum Andy Warhol, we heard so many compelling stories from alums and friends across the country. From all of us at the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers…

Here are some highlights from our month-long campaign pulled together on Storify. We look forward to another year of record-breaking submissions. Let’s ring in 2015 with more art and writing!

(Psst. You can also still donate to our Annual Appeal before December 31, 2014 here!:

Collecting #myAWaward videos from alumni and friends of the program has been an absolute joy for us here at the Alliance. Every day, we learn more about the reach and impact of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards! We’ve been humbled and inspired to work even harder and find more creative teens. And now you’re totally inspired too. Yes. You.  You with the Gold Key pin. A certificate. The memory of you becoming suddenly and inextricably changed. Read More

November is off to an incredible start! You’ve gotten to know us a little more and why we devote ourselves so wholeheartedly to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards and the many high-quality programs we offer throughout the year for teenagers and alumni. So far, we’ve raised over 10,000 of our $50,000 fundraising goal on Crowdrise. We’ve shared some AMAZING videos from alumni and friends of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards over the last week and look forward to sharing even more throughout the month of November. Every Friday afternoon, we get REALLY excited to release the names of the week’s supporters on our social media!

So, now, you think, you want in. The time is now. You want to join the campaign to reach $50,000 for the non-profit, the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, that presents the nation’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition initiative for creative teens and the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers. On Monday, we announced an ambitious month-long campaign to reach $50,000 for our FIRST Crowdrise campaign by December 2!  In just two days, we’ve seen alumni and friends of the program donate, share our campaign, and encourage their colleagues, friends, family and educators to give to the Alliance so we can continue offering the highest quality programming for teenagers and alumni for years to come. It has been great to take this opportunity to share a little bit more about us and what drives us every day.

For the first time, we are launching an online annual appeal to raise support for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards through Crowdrise. We are setting a big $50,000 goal and need your help to reach the top by December 2! In October, we called out to alumni and friends of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards to submit a short video sharing: what did your Scholastic Art & Writing Award mean to you as a teenager? or, why are the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards important to teenagers?
