The NYC Scholastic Awards has once again partnered with The Metropolitan Museum of Art to present an exhibition of art and writing from NYC teens. This exhibition features works from Gold Key recipients in the 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. More than six hundred works of art and writing are on display in the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

In 2018, more than four thousand students in grades 7–12 submitted nearly eleven thousand works to the New York City Region of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, encompassing more than 300 schools in all five boroughs. In addition, nearly three hundred literary and visual arts professionals served as judges, selecting works based on originality, technical skill, and emergence of a personal voice or vision.

These Gold Key recipients join a roster of notable Scholastic Awards Alums such as artists Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, Kay WalkingStick, and John Baldessari—all represented in The Met collection—and writers Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, and Joyce Carol Oates.
